All in all, Zoom HD absolutely nailed it on all factors of our testing process. It passed every test with flying colours – and was definitely the best all-rounder for its tech, alongside affordability and convenience.
Zoom HD was one of the more attractive-looking dash cams we tested. Whilst still being sleek, this product is clearly hardwearing and built to last. You may have found some dash cams can be quite distracting, but the Zoom HD is compact and fits into the interior of your car without looking out of place or causing obstructions. With its suction mount, it’s also super easy to attach and detach, and is very portable.
Whilst a lot of dashcams are good and ‘do the job’ to an extent, they only offer grainy and washed-out footage. If you are relying on this footage for any reason, it can actually be really difficult to do so as it doesn’t offer great results. That certainly isn’t the case with the Zoom HD dash cam.
The full 4K HD display was probably the clearest out of all the dash cams we reviewed. On testing the product, the wide-angle 4K lens did not disappoint, nor did the 170-degree field of view. AND with IR night vision – you still get that same great quality, no matter the time of the day. This could be especially useful should your car be tampered with during the night whilst parked up.
Without a doubt, the most vital reason for installing a dash cam is so that you have physical evidence of an event for insurance claims. With Zoom HD’s inbuilt G-Sensor, you’re able to record the footage from the impact of a collision! It then locks to prevent overwriting, giving you absolutely indisputable proof of any accident.
Considering all of the above, what shocked us most was the low-cost of the Zoom HD dash cam in comparison to the majority of their competitors. Being a small US startup – they perhaps don’t have the overheads that a lot of the bigger brands have and so can keep their prices down – which is great for us! That being said, without the ‘big brand name’, obviously, Zoom HD does lack the same reputation.
